Funeral for Mrs. J. D. Magee, 76, who died at her home Tuesday morning, will be held at the First Baptist church at 4 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. W. C. Ashford, pastor of the Southside Baptist church, will officiate at the service in the absence of Dr. M. A. Jenkens. Burial will be in a local cemetery.
Long time resident of Abilene, Mrs. Magee had been an invalid for the past ten years. Born Nancy Ann Wilbanks on April 5, 1867, in Alabama, she moved with her parents to Mississippi. She married there to Dr. Jefferson Magee in 1881. Dr. Magee died October 12, 1935.
Mrs. Magee moved with her husband to Abilene in 1903 from Mount Sylvan, Texas.
She is survived by five sons, Dr. L. H. Magee of Abilene, Major J. D. Magee of the medical corps, stationed in Oakland, Calif., Dr. H. C. Magee of New Orleans, Dr. R. C. Magee of Dallas, and J. M. Magee, 2941 South Third; one daughter, Mrs. Vernon Strahan of Big Spring; and 15 grandchildren.
Active pallbearers will be Emmett Chandler, Charlie Barnes, T. E. Brownlee, Lloyd McCarty, W. J. Deakins and Homer Scott. Honorary pallbearers will be C. R. Lindsay, Dr. W. C. Neal, J. R. Spaulding, J. D. Miracle, Abercombe Holmes and all members of the Taylor county medical and denial societies.
