Mrs. Morello, An Insurance Sales Leader
Mrs. G. Wilma Morello, 47, St. Petersburg life insurance saleswoman, died yesterday at a local hospital. She resided at 3232 31st Ave. N.
Mrs. Morello began her career in the life insurance business in 1951 working first for a stock company collecting premiums and making out reports. In late 1955 she started selling for Home Owners, and soon became their leading sales agent. She won numerous awards for the company. She has been with New York Life Insurance Company since June, 1959.
In 1954 after selling $700,000 worth of insurance she was named the seventh leading insurance agent in the United States and also was chosen as a member of the Women Leaders Round Table of the National Association of Life Underwriters. This is the top insurance industry club for women. They must sell at least a quarter of a million dollars worth of insurance a year. There are only 300 members in the world.
Born in Dothan, Ala., Mrs. Morello moved to St. Petersburg 11 years ago from Sarasota. She was a member of St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church.
Surviving are her husband, Marcell Jack, owner of Greater Tampa Electric Motor Co.; a son, Robert Thomas Law, and a daughter, Janice L., both of St. Petersburg; her mother, Mrs. Osie Barfield, and a brother, Shelley H. Green, Sumter, S. C.
