Edward was the son of James and Mary O'Neill. His parents were boren in Ireland. In 1880 his parents James, 57, and Mary, 45, were living at 219 Liberty St. with children Edward, 21, John, 19, Henry, 18, Mary, 17, Kate, 14, James, 12, and Margaret, 7. Edward, John and Henry were born in Pennsylvania. Mary, Kate and Margaret were born in Delaware. James was born in Maryland. Edward James O'Neill, 26, a brakeman, and Ellen Mary Kane, 27, were married February 12, 1885 in Wilmington, Delaware. Edward was a conductor on the Philadelphia Wilmington & Baltimore Railroad. He died in a workplace accident 11 days after the birth of his only child Catherine.
