Robert was born in Boston, MA, to Joseph A Irwin and Rose B (Frey) Irwin. He grew up and lived in Dallas, TX until the early 70's when he moved to his latest home in Falls Church, VA. He was a U.S. Marine Corps fighter pilot during WW II and the Korean War. He earned multiple Air Medals and the Distinguished Flying Cross. He was Commanding Officer of VMF-112 1963 - 1964. He retired from the USMCR as a Colonel. Bob and his brother owned and operated Irwin Real Estate in Dallas for many decades, building housing developments in the Dallas area. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth E. (Clarke) Irwin, his second wife, Barbara B. (Kraig) Irwin and his brother, Landon. He is survived by his three sons; James, Michael, and Roger; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery
