"Trent Wilmor Garrett, 54, of Coleman, died Sunday, June 16, 2013 at Coleman County Medical Center. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at First Baptist Church, 200 East College, Coleman, with Rev, John Stanislaw officiating. Burial will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery, under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

"Trent Wilmor Garrett was born March 29, 1959 in Houston, the son of Dovie Rose Myers Garrett and the late Ulys Avery Garrett. He grew up and attended school in Houston. On August 31, 1979, he married Mary Lou Medrano in Coleman. Trent worked as a Correctional Officer at the Thomas R. Havins Unit in Brownwood. He was also a member of Harmony Baptist Church.

"Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou Garrett of Coleman; one daughter, Kelly Cox and husband, Bobby, of Coleman; one son, Tyler Garrett and wife, Maria, of Lubbock; three grandchildren, Aislyn and Addison Cox both of Coleman, Kaci Garrett of Lubbock; his mother, Dovie Garrett of Coleman; two brothers, Pat Avery Garrett of Coleman; James Robert Garrett and wife, Debbie, of Houston; two sisters, Beverly Ann Chapman of Coleman, Brenda Hollingsworth and husband, Brian, of Houston; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lydia Saucedo of Abilene, Rudy Medrano and wife, Faye, of Ballinger, Eliza Nuñez of Coleman, Mel Medrano and wife, Ann, of Grand Prairie, Mary Ann Gallegos and husband, Manuel, of Coleman, Lollie Medrano of Irving, Tommy Medrano of Brenham; two aunts and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews, who thought of Trent as a second Dad.

"He was preceded in death by his father, Ulys Avery Garrett; two sisters, Gayla Marie Moore, Charlotte Lea Petty; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Melchor and Matilde Medrano; brother-in-law, Jasper Medrano; sister-in-law, Josephine Nuñez.

"Family visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman."
