From The New Castle Record, dated Saturday, July 9, 1910:
Mr. James Craft, after an illness of several months, died at his home near town on last Sunday. Mr. Craft was a good citizen and neighbor and the news of his death was received with deep regret in the community. He is survived by a widow and several children. Remains were interred in West View Cemetery.
∼John Henry Craft was the son of John and Sarah Craft. He served in Company A, 30th Battalion Virginia Sharpshooters, Confederate States Army. He was severely wounded at the Battle of New Market, Virginia on May 15, 1864. He was captured at Waynesboro, Virginia on March 2, 1865, and was later sent to Fort Delaware as a prisoner of war. He was released on June 19, 1865, and returned to Craig County as a farmer.
