Mr Charles R. Cavender 85 of Jefferson City, passed away Friday June 14, 2013 at Adams Street Place.

Dick was born January 8, 1928 in Lockport, New York a son of Armand Tevis and Irene Bates Cavender. He was married on August 15, 1952 in Indianapolis IN. to Betty Sanders, who preceded him in death on November 1, 2006.

Dick was a 1944 gradute of Avon High School, Avon, IN. After high school he served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II as a marksman for four years and was very proud to be a Marine.

After World War II he went to work on the Railroad and eventually enlisted again in the United States Armed Forces. This time it was with the United States Army for eight years and he spent many years in the Army as a Railroad Conductor. During those years he served across the world, including Italy, and Korea. He retired in 1984 and spent the majority of his retirement traveling.

Survivors include one step son, William DeAtley of Branson Mo. two brothers, Denny Cavender of Indiana and Ralph Cavender of Washington, step grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Betty, two sisters, Marilyn Cavender and Sally Kukoda, and two brothers, Robert Cavender and Donald Cavender.

Graveside services and interment with military honors will be held at Riverview Cemetery.
