Cecil was the ninth of twelve children born to Ulyssus and Laura George. In July of 1930 he married Martha Anderson and they had two children (Dolores and Marvin). Cecil began is career in the forest working with the Civilian Conservation Corp in Northern Idaho. He continued working with the Forest Service in the Blister Rust crew. During that time, during the summer months his family would often live in the Coeur d'Alene National Forest in a tent. The kids would take advantage of the nearby river to play in the water and fish. This is when Huckleberry picking became a family tradition.

OBITUARY:
CECIL C. GEORGE HAS HEART ATTACK, PASSES SUDDENLY - Oct. 28, 1957

Taken ill while waiting his turn to bowl at the Lake City Lanes, Cecil Clinton George, 51, forester's aide with the Forest Service here, died almost instantly last night.

George, who was a member of the Bob's Paint Shop team, had arranged for a substitute to bowl for him after complaining of not feeling well and was leaving the building when he was stricken.

City firemen used the inhalator in an effort to revive him and also accompanied him by ambulance to the hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. Death was attributed to a heart attack.

George, blister rust control staff assistant on the Coeur d'Alene national forest, had been employed on both the St. Joe and the Coeur d'Alene national forest since 1931 except for several years he engaged in defense work.
