OBITUARY :
M. LORRAINE ROYER, 90, of Mercersburg, Pa., died Thursday, June 13, 2013, at her home.

Born Dec. 4, 1922, in Big Spring, Md., she was a daughter of the late Thomas Franklin and Clara Mae Eichelberger Clopper.

Early in life, Lorraine was a homemaker. She later worked at the Franklin County Courthouse for more than 20 years as a clerk in the Register and Recorder's Office.

She enjoyed gardening and loved her family.

She was a member of American Legion Post 222 of Clear Spring and American Legion Post 517 of Mercersburg; and a life member of VFW Post 6241 of Mercersburg.

Her husband, John Jacob Royer, died Dec. 13, 1998.

Surviving family includes four children, Donna R. Bear of Chambersburg, Pa., Sue Royer and John V. "Jay" Royer, both of Mercersburg, and Deborah Ferrier of Crawford, Colo.; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Also surviving are two sisters, Merle Trumpower and Bessie Wiley, both of Hagerstown.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Pearre Clopper.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 18, at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home Inc., Mercersburg, with Pastor Paul A. Martin officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg.

There will be no viewing. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the funeral home.
