Son of W.V. Supreme Court Judge, William Alexander Harrison. Participated in the enactment of the 1st Constitution for West Virginia; member of the Convention from Harrison County. Graduate of Randolph Macon College. Admitted to the West Virginia Bar at the age of 21. In 1863, Thomas Harrison was elected as Judge of the 3rd Circuit including Marion, Harrison and Barbour counties. He continued to preside over this Circuit, which added Randolph County and became the 4th Circuit, until 1873. He was unsuccessful in his run for the 2nd Circuit against Charles S. Lewis. He returned to private practice representing clients in the various courts in West Virginia.
