Samuel believing Katherine's four children to have been fathered by Jacob Blakeway, made arrangements with "honest and religious people" (John Carver and Robert Cushman of the Mayflower, eventually to be placed with the Winslow, Brewster and Carver families) for the four children to travel on the Mayflower to Massachusetts. Richard, aged 6, survived, was placed with the Brewster family, became a mariner and ship captain, married Christina Hunter and Jane Crumpton, and had five sons and two daughters.
