Martha Ahlrich, 89, died Thursday, Nov. 7, 1996, at the South Care Center, Humboldt.
Services were Saturday, Nov. 9, 1996, at the First Lutheran Church, Gilmore City, with the Rev. Doug Haugen officiating. Burial was in the Marble Valley Cemetery, Gilmore City. Casket bearers were Rodney Ahlrich, Terry Ahlrich, Paul Allan Alhich, Allan Poppen, Andy Peterson and Denzil Wiemera.
Survivors include sons Paul, Bloomingdale, Ill., and Marlyn, Humboldt; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and brother Jack Fokken, Emmetsburg. She was preceded in death by her parents George and Julia Rebhuhn Fokken.
Martha Katherine Margaret Fokken was born Nov. 27, 1906, in Pocahontas. She was raised and educated in Pocahontas and graduated from the Pocahontas High School. On Feb. 23,1931, she married Peter Ahlrich in Pocahontas. The couple lived and farmed in the Gilmore City area their entire lives. They entered the South Care Center, Humboldt, two years ago where Peter died in November 1995.
She was a member of First Lutheran Church, Gilmore City and the WELCA women's group at the church.
