Miriam Louise Gilstrap was born January 8, 1933 in Woodland, Texas. She went home to be with the Lord and her family on June 12, 2013 in Forney, Texas. She was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Miriam moved back to Broken Bow in 1972 from Mesquite, Texas where she was active in the Texas Parent-Teacher Association, holding a life membership from the state of Texas. She served as president of the United Church Women United Eastern-South Dallas Council from 1968-1972. Miriam was nominated for Who's Who in American Communities in 1970 for her effort in obtaining a pornography Law for the City of Mesquite and State of Texas. She served as District Women's leader in her faith walk and was a co-founder of the Enid, Oklahoma Chapter of CRY (children raped young).

She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Julia Aaron; son, Samuel W. Jones; sister, Lillie Angelly Smith; brothers, Stanley, R.C., Joel and David Aaron; husbands Samuel W. Jones, Jr. in 1992 and Aaron R. Gilstrap in 2005.

She leaves to cherish her memory her sons; Danny Jones of Forney, Texas, Phillip Jones and wife Sherri also of Forney, Texas; daughter, Brenda Perry and husband Jim of Idabel; brother, Don Aaron of Texarkana, Texas; sister, Nell Herd of Broken Bow; special friend of 30 years, JoAnn Huffman; 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and one on the way, 1 great-great-granddaughter; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, June 14, 2013 from 6 to 8 pm at Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 15, 2013 at 1pm at the Bunch-Singleton Chapel with Patriarch Evangelist Fred Greene officiating and Elder Chris Taylor assisting. Interment will follow at Watson Memorial Cemetery in the Oak Hill Community
