Jean (Hertzler) Ostrander provided the following information about the Helms Family,
January 2000:

Helms Family: Arthur Halam (English) changed to Helm and poet A.L. Tennyson mentioned him in the poem "In Memoriam". Nancy Starkweather [Robert's mother] was a Quaker married to William Helms. William was killed in an accident at 85 years of age. He left an estate worth $80,000 willed to son Thomas and left [the] home to Robert's wife, Eva Black Helms. Robert died young. He was shot in a Memorial Day accident suffering a bullet to the brain.
