Services Held In Indianola Bridger Bailey Allen, Indianola attorney and former commander of the Mississippi Department of the American legion, died after a heart attack at South Sunflower County Hospital here Tuesday morning. He was 69. Services were at First Baptist Church at 2 p. m. Wednesday with Rev. Harry Kellogg officiating. Burial was in Indianola Cemetery with Coleman Funeral Home in charge. Born and reared in Sardis, Mr. Allen was graduated in 1916 from West Tennessee Normal College, now Memphis State University. He continued the study of law in Memphis. During World War I he served in the Air Force with the rank of second lieutenant. For several years he practiced law in Ruleville and Moorhead, and he was elected county attorney before coming to Indianola in 1924. He was a member of the Sunflower County, Miss, and American Bar Associations. Mr. Allen was active in Legion affairs and was instrumental in the establishment of the Veterans' Farm and Home Board, serving as its chairman for 20 years. A member of the First Baptist Church, he was a teacher in the adult Sunday School department. He was a Mason, a Shiner and a former member of the board of trustees of the Indianola school. He leaves his wife., Mrs. Iris Curry Allen; three daughters, Mrs. Frank Buchanan and Mrs. George Lipe, both of Indianola, and Mrs. Frank Armstrong of Memphis; two brothers, M. G. Allen of Greenville and E. W. Allen of Tunica; three sisters, Mrs. J. P. Bailey of Coldwater and Mrs. F. T. Massey and Miss Gladys Allen, both of Sardis, and 11 grandchildren. Pall bearers were Herman Moore, Barney Philley, Harold Cox, of Jackson, Al Fultz, M. A Moore, Edgar Hobbs of Moorhead, Wallace Shuttleworth, Woodley Carr, and James P. Dale of Jackson. Honorary pall bearers included W. L. Bridges W. R. French, George S. Marshall, S. B. Bradley, Judge Arthur Clark, C. E. Kirk, L. B. Murphy, Tom Pitts, A. A. Cole-man, John Boyer, Jack Dale of Brandon, Archie Williams of Moorhead, Dr. J. C. Colquitt, W. I. Hollowell, Judge Louie Wise of Yazoo City, Dudley Owens, Jackson, Will Harrison Moorhead, J. C. Hodges, Sr., and the members of the Sunflower County Bar Association.
