GMM3 US NAVY - KOREA

MANCHESTER - Austin Edric Rush, 82, cherished father and grandfather, peacefully passed away on June 7, 2013, in Virginia. He was born on Dec. 9, 1930, in Monticello, the youngest of six children born to Eric and Otalee (Harris) Rush.


Dad served as a gunner's mate in the Navy from 1951 to 1955 on the USS Washtenaw County. On Nov. 17, 1956, he married Arlene (Bustard) Rush and together they settled in Manchester to raise their family.


He worked for many years at the Augusta Print Shop and then at J. S. McCarthy Printing. Dad and Mom loved to dance and enjoyed going to square dances, round dances, and concerts with their friends. After their retirement they moved to Reflections on Silver Lake in Avon Park, Fla. In 2011 Dad moved to Virginia Beach, Va., with his faithful and much loved pug, Brutus.


He is survived by his children, Jaclyn, and her husband, Jeffery Campbell, and their children, Matthew and Jennifer; Debra and her husband, Jeffrey Denbow, and their children, Kimberly and Michael Chamard and Justin; and Eric and his wife, Rhonda, and their children Joshua, Dana, Wyatt, Morgan and Patrick. He has one great-grandson, Riley. He is also survived by one sister, Erla Chase. He was predeceased by Arlene, his wife of 48 years; his brother, Almon Rush; and his sisters, Esma Omicioli, Norma Webb and Frances Rush.


Interment will be at the Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery. (Kennebec Journal 6/14/2013 & Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home)
