Jack was born April 6, 1927, in Erie, IL, to Frank M. and Leafa G. (Hadaway) Hamilton.
He was educated in the Burke Grade school of rural Whiteside County and was a graduate of Erie High School in Erie, IL. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Jack married Kathryn L. "Kay" Huizenga on January 28, 1948, in Fulton, IL. She died November 1, 2009. He was first employed by E.I. Dupont in Clinton, IA. He then owned and operated J & D Construction Company in Fulton and later Jack"s Construction Company in Fulton. Jack was a member of the Fulton American Legion Post #402 and the Brick Layers Union Local #74. He enjoyed snowmobiling, boating and water skiing. He loved his wife, sons and families and his work.
Survivors include two sons, Mark (Sandy) Hamilton and David (Lynn) Hamilton; five grandchildren, Amy (Tim) Hartig, Jill (Kevin) Hamstra, Joni (Jake) VanDeWostine, Kara (Seth) Spooner and Darcy Hamilton; seven great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Bella Hartig, Haylee and Mavrick Hamstra, Braylon VanDeWostine, Easton and Briar Spooner.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Kay; one sister, Carrie Olsen and four brothers, Leroy, Marvin, Arthur and Jim Hamilton.
Funeral service: 10:30 A.M., Saturday, June 15, 2013, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Officiating: Laura Wessels, Director of Ministries at Second Reformed Church, Fulton, IL. Visitation: 4:00 - 7:00 P.M., Friday, June 14, 2013 at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Interment: Fulton Township Cemetery, Fulton, IL.
