Erika Gisele Epperson was born in N. Hollywood, California on September 7, 1973. She was raised in Sylmar, California and later moved to Placerville, California until 1982.
In the summer of 1982, she and her mother moved across the country to Massachusetts where they lived in Ashfield, Shelburne Falls, then to Nantucket Island.
At 17, she moved to Cape Cod where she worked at the Hyannis IHOP for a while then worked at a gas station/Package store where she stopped a robbery and held the man until police arrived. Shortly after, she was killed in the Hyannis house she shared with roommates, by her long time boyfriend who shot her in the head while she slept. His trial lasted one week and Justin Ward 24, was found guilty of murder and received a life sentence. Erika was 20 years old. There were two memorial services for her, one on Nantucket Island, Massachusetts and one in Hyannis, Massachusetts. She was much loved by her friends and left her family in deep grief.
