Phillip K. McFarland, 63, Arkansas City, died Sunday, May 7, 2006, at the South Central Kansas Regional Medical Center. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, May 11, 2006, at the First Baptist Church in Arkansas City. The Rev. Stephen Bailey will officiate. Phil was born Aug. 28, 1942, in Winfield, to Leonard R. McFarland and Beulah M. McFarland. He attended Arkansas City schools graduating from the high school in 1960. On March 29, 1965, he married Sharon Anstey in Newkirk, Okla., and the couple has made their home in the Arkansas City area since. He owned and operated the McFarland Gravel Company and the McFarland Farms. Survivors include his wife, Sharon McFarland, of the home; three daughters, Marla McFarland and husband, Pat Wilson, Cindi Rowe and husband, Randy, all of Arkansas City, Christine Covinsky and husband, Bryan, of Lee's, Summit, Mo.; brother, Jim McFarland, of Winfield; sister, Loretta Kay McFarland, of Emporia; six grandchildren, Elizabeth Potter, Holli Rowe, Mitchell Phillip Rowe, Savannah Rowe, Gunnar Covinsky and Aidan Covinsky. He was preceded in death by his parents and twin sister, Rosetta McFarland.
