Rites for P.G.Coffey, 71, to be Held Saturday
P.G. Coffey, 71, of the Bull Creek section of Madison County, died at his home about 7:30 o'clock Thursday morning, April 28, 1949. He had been in declining health for sometime.
Funeral services will be held at Bull Creek Saturday at 2:30 o'clock with the Rev. Perry Sprinkle, the Rev. David Roberts, the Rev. Vaughn Fisher and the Rev. Horace Arrowood officiating.
Pallbearers will be Fred Merrell, Grant McDarris, Gay Merrell, Joseph Reese, Albun Buckner and Woodfin Capps.
Honorary pallbearers are George Bryan, Charlie Phillips, Murray Rice, Corry Wallin, Leo Kent, McKinley Rice, Marvin Ball, McKinley Green.
Flower girls will be granddaughters, Mrs. Pink Burris, Mrs. Cliff Chapman, Miss Edna Robinson, Kathleen Edwards, Eula Edwards and Beulah Edwards.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Lizzie Griffin Coffey, ten daughters: Mrs. Bernard Edwards, Marshall, Route 2; Mrs. Charlie Allman, Weaverville, Route 1; Mrs. Aldon Robinson, Swannanoa, Route 1; Mrs. Herman Shelton, Greenville, S.C.; Mrs. Jule Buchanan, Hazelwood; Mrs. Pearl Edwards, Mars Hill, Route 1; Mrs. Earl Mashburn, Waynesville; Mrs. Jesse Hatton, Lexington, Ky; and Esther and Mariedith of the home; six sons, James and Frank of Marshall, Route 2; Carroll, Anderson, Floyd and Leonard of the home; 24 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Margaret Fleming, Asheville; and three brothers, Ivory and Neal Coffey of Asheville; and Virgil of Mars Hill.
