Mrs. Jennie Brownell Dies at 87

Mrs. Jennie E. Brownell, 87, of 186 Bishop St., widow of Fred W. Brownell, died at 2:48 p.m. Sunday at the House of the Good Samaritan where she had been admitted Dec. 1.
The funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Reed and Benoit Funeral Home with Rev. Gerald Loch, pastor, Emmanuel Congregational Church, officiating. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
She is survived by a son, Fred W: Jr., 186 Bishop St., a sister, Mrs. Ray W. (Pauline C.) Stickney, Oswego, and two nieces, Mrs. Robert (Judy) Smith, Oswego, and Mrs. Dennis (Sally), Risk, Watertown.
Two brothers and two sisters died before her, Louis S. Switzer on Feb. 11, 1962, Francis H. Switzer, on Aug. 5, 1972, Mrs. Lillian Martin on Oct. 5, 1965, and Mrs. Eleanor Donahue on Jan. 12, 1968.
Born Feb. 20, 1892, in Watertown a daughter of Anthony W. and Eleanor Marino Switzer, she attended Watertown schools and worked for Faichney Instrument a few years.
She married Fred W. Brownell, Sept. 21, 1910. Mr. Brownell, mill superintendent at Knowlton Brothers, Number One Machine boss at the St. Regis Paper Co.,, Deferiet, died Sept. 1, 1966, at the age of 78.
Mr. and Mrs. Brownell had been active in the co-ed bowling league. She was a member of Emmanuel Congregational Church, Jefferson Chapter 406, O.E.S. and the Watertown Women's Bowling League.
