Betty & Raymond Sasse, both 87, both of Red Wing and formerly of Blue Earth and Winnebego, died only two days apart, on June 3 & 5, 2013 at St. Brigid's at Hi-Park.

Betty was born April 12, 1926 in Blue Earth, Minnesota to Paul E. and Francis (Hughes) Dray. She graduated from Blue Earth High School.

Raymond was born Dec. 26, 1925 in Emerald Township, Minnesota to George E. and Pearl E. (Cartwright) Sasse. He attended schools in Winnebego. He enlisted in the US Army until he was honorably discharged and he later enlisted in the US Coast Guard in Duluth.

Betty and Raymond were united in marriage on September 26, 1947 and they lived in Winnebego, later moving to Blue Earth. They both worked for Don's Fleet Supply and Ray also had other jobs throughout the years. They retired and eventually returned to Winnebego. In 2011, they moved to Red Wing. In Betty's spare time, she enjoyed cross stitching. In Ray's spare time, he enjoyed woodcarving and he taught woodcarving courses in the summer at the Waldorf College. He was a very skilled wood carver, and had been a member of the Blue Earth Wood Carvers and he was also a member of the VFW in Blue Earth. They both loved attending craft fairs and were members of Hope United Methodist Church in Blue Earth.

They are survived by their three children, Tom (Cheryl) Sasse of Red Wing, Michael (Jill) Sasse of Guttenberg, IA, and Kathryn Eggert of Rochester; six grandchildren, Tara Larsen, Joshua Sasse, Jason Sasse, Krista Belanger, Aaron Sasse, and Nicole Eggert; and 10 great grandchildren.
