Owens Service Set

Funeral services for Mrs. Tom Owens who died Monday will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Westminster Untied Presbyterian Church, where she was a member. A memorial has been established in her name at the church.

The Rev. Carl J. Hahn Jr., pastor, and the Rev. David Isaac, former pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.

Elizabeth Jane Rees, the daughter of William J. and Ann Elizabeth Griffith Rees, was born Dec. 20th, 1887, in Emporia, and she married Tom Owens, Nov. 20th, 1907. She lived all her life in Emporia except for a few years when she and her husband lived on their ranch at Cedar Point. Mr. Owens was a sheriff in Lyon County for several terms. He died Nov. 15th, 1956. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Women of the Westminster Church, the Emporia Rebecca Lodge 36, and the Women's City Club.

She is survived by three sons, William Preston Owens, Hutchinson, Ernest T. Owens, Neosho Rapids, and Edward L. Owens, Topeka; one daughter, Helen Norton, Littleton, Colo.; one brother, Howard A. Rees, Osage City; two sisters, Mrs. W. J. Lewis, 921 Market St., and Mrs. Leroy Raynolds, 127 East Eleventh Ave; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert J., Charles W., and Oliver Rees and by one granddaughter, Cheryl Welch.
