Robert L. "Bob" Anderson, 88, Lathrop, Mo., passed away June 10, 2013. Bob was born July 24, 1924 in Lawson, Mo., to Farris and Bessie (Walker) Anderson. He graduated from Lathrop High School in 1941. On July 4, 1948, Bob married Lucile Spidle in Excelsior Springs. They were married 64 wonderful years. From this union two children were born, Nancy and Tom.

Bob worked as a farmer until 1962 when he started work as a supervisor for the USDA. He retired from this position in 1985. He then worked as a greeter at Wal-Mart for 15 years. He also served as a Lay Speaker for the Methodist Church. Both of these positions brought joy to Bob. He loved visiting with people and people looked forward to seeing Bob's smile and hearing his kind words. Bob was also a member of Lawson United Methodist Church.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law, and two brothers.

Bob is survived by his wife, Lucile; children, Nancy Danner and Tom (Katie) Anderson; sister-in-law, Helen Anderson; four grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bob was a kind and gentle man who will be missed by all who loved him.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 13, 2013 at Lawson United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2 p.m., prior to the service. Burial will follow funeral service at Converse Cemetery near Lathrop.
