Gregory Barker Bement, 55, died in his home after a 15 1/2 month battle with cancer. He was born October 11, 1957, in Portsmouth, N.H., to Russell and Delta Bement.

Greg's family moved to Boulder in 1966 after his father retired from the U.S. Air Force. Greg attended Majestic Heights and Douglass elementary schools, Burbank and Platt junior high schools and Fairview High School. He attended Brigham Young University for two years. He served a two-year mission for his church to San Paulo North, Brazil, mission. Greg transferred to Metro State College in Denver and graduated in aviation management in 1983.

Greg married Kristie Wendorf in 1981. They have three boys: Michael, Matthew and Mark, all of Windsor. Before moving to Windsor in 1992, Greg and Kristie and their family lived in Boulder, Lafayette, Montbello, Louisville, Broomfield and Fort Collins. He was a wonderful husband and father. Greg could always be found cheering his boys on at sporting or musical events or supporting his wife in all her musical endeavors. Greg was also a loyal friend. There are many who were helped by Greg in some way or another.

Greg was an owner/operator for Airborne Express for northern Colorado and southern Wyoming from 1984-2004, which at that time Airborne was bought out by DHL. Greg then went to work as a driver for LSI in Greeley. He delivered petroleum products to northeastern Colorado, western Kansas and southern Wyoming. Greg had also worked as a flight instructor and scuba instructor in the northern Colorado area. While he was not a certified auto mechanic or carpenter he became both by necessity. He built the two shops on his property and helped build a house in Hawaii. He worked on and maintained the fleet of trucks he owned for Bement Air Cartage.

Greg was a very fine tenor. He was a member of Chivalry, Concert Choir, Festival Choir and Excalibur at Fairview High School in Boulder. He had a voice scholarship to Brigham Young University and was a member of a cappella chorus, which toured Europe and Eastern Europe. He sang the tenor solos in the Messiah many times. He also had been a member of the Colorado Mormon Chorale, where he also was a featured soloist.

Greg was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Over the years he served in bishoprics, elders' quorums, young men's presidencies, high priest leadership, high counsels and most recent as the stake executive secretary.

Greg had many interests. He loved to read, enjoyed boating, water skiing, scuba diving and running.
