She was born September 12, 1903, in McSherrystown, the daughter of the late Adam and Ida (Foose) Smith.
She was the oldest living member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Abbottstown. She was also a member of the Legion of Mary, N.C.C.W (National Council of Catholic Woman). She was an avid bingo player and bowler in her day. She enjoyed flowers and baking and cooking for charitable events. She retired as a cook from the Paradise School for Boys.
She is survived by her son, Francis C. Schuhart of East Berlin; and daughters, Rita Heckman of Spartenburg, S.C., and Anna Mae (Edward) Hoffheins of Abbottstown. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; and 10 step great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by seven brothers and five sisters; a grandchild; and triplet great-grandchildren. She was the last survivor of her immediate family.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Wednesday, August 29, 2007, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Abbottstown, with the Rev. Fr. Michael Messner officiating. Burial was in Annunciation Cemetery, McSherrystown. A viewing was held Tuesday, August 28, 2007, from the Feiser Funeral Home, Inc., 306 Harrisburg St., East Berlin.
