Death of Former Theater Manager Villard Draper Hornbeck, 43, World war veteran, and former Lafayette theater manager, died Wednesday at 7:15 p. m. at his home, 1929 Charles street after an illness of six weeks Born in Monon, ne was a son of Alvin D. and Sarah (Brown) Hornbeck. He was a graduate of Monon high school and during the World war served overseas as a second lieutenant in Company B, Tank corps, United States Army.
After his discharge, he returned to Lafayette and re-entered the theater business, also operating theaters in Monticello and Logansport. Later he was employed by the Texas Oil company and in 1936 returned to Lafayette and entered the employ of the Adams Insurance Agency in the real estate department. On October 14, 1921 he married Ruby Rice at Monticello. Mr. Hornbeck was a member of Holy Trinity English Lutheran church and the church council, also president of its Men's Broth erhood.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a past president of the Logansport Rotary club. Besides his widow, he leaves two sons, Willard Rice Hornbeck and Huntley Alan Horn beck, also a sister, Mrs. Basil D Shafer, Lafayette, and two brothers, Murl B. Hornbeck and Harley H. Hornbeck, Indianapolis.
Friends may call at the Bradshaw funeral home after 2 p. m. Friday. Services, Holy Trinity English Lutheran church, Satur day at 2:30 p. m.
Rev. H. C. Stolldorf officiating. Burial in Spring Vale cemetery.
The body will lie in state one hour before services in the church.
