Mr. Julius Lund, age 76, of Orange City, passed away Wednesday, July 21, 1993 at countryside Estates in Cherokee.


Julius Ingvald Lund was born October 30, 1916 at Fosston, Minnesota, the son of Sigurd and Inga (Lund) Lund.


He was raised in Minnesota. He lived much of his life in the Minneapolis, Minnesota area, where he was employed at a landscape nursery. He semi-retired in 1981.


In the late 1980's, he moved to Iowa, living at the Pioneer Memorial Home in Orange City for a short time. He then became a resident of the Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull, and later transferred to Countryside Estates.


He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Minneapolis.


Survivors include his two brothers, Stanley and his wife, Shirley of Fullerton, California; and Curtis and his wife, Alice of Orange City; sister, Deloris of Orange City; two brothers-in-law, Bob Hackett of Eugene, Oregon; and Bill Oldenkamp of Orange City; and several nephews and nieces.


He was preceded in death by two sisters, Allie Hackett and Cecelia Oldenkamp.


A prayer service was held Friday, July 23, 1993 at the Van Etten-Oolman-Van Gelder Funeral Home in Orange City. Mr. Kenneth Anema, of the First Christian Reformed Church in

Orange City, officiated. Interment followed at West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City.

Julius' birth parents were Inga Lund and her first husband, Jens O. Jacobson. After his father died when he was less than one year old, Inga married Sigurd Lund who raised Julius and his sister Allie and they had several younger half siblings. Julius sometimes used both last names on legal documents such as his WWII draft card which he signed Julius Jacobson Lund.
