Son of Abel Adams and Damaris Gibson

George served as a Private in Company D, 16th Regiment, Vermont volunteer infantry. He mustered in October 22, 1862, and mustered out August 10, 1863.

On December 3, 1864 George married Sarah Wilbur in Londonderry, Vermont.
George married the widowed Sarah L. Hall Wright on January 8, 1907 in Grafton, Vermont. In 1910, George's stepsons Leland F. and John H. Wright lived with them, as did a grandson (Ernest Lawrence).
