Staunton - Funeral services for Mrs. Fannie M. Bell, of near Summit Church, who died last Saturday at the home of her son, the Rev. Arthur Bell here, were held yesterday from the Pleasant Grove Brethren Church, the pastor, Rev. D. F. Glovier, assisted by the Rev. W.E. Davis of Staunton, officiating. Mrs. Bell was 80 years and five months of age. She was born at Mt. Crawford in 1845. She leaves three sons - H.L. Bell, school teacher and farmer of Mt. Crawford; Rev. C. Arthur Bell and Lewis M. Bell of Staunton. One son, J. Howard Bell, an attorney, died 13 years ago at Santa Anna, Calif. Her only daughter, Mrs. Mattie E. Cook, of Burketown, died two years ago. Mrs. Bell spent her entire life in Rockingham and Augusta counties. For the past 32 years, she had made her home near Summit Church. She was in declining health for the past year, but her strong constitution kept her up until six weeks ago. A fortnight later, Mrs. Bell was moved in her son's home here. Among the relatives are Mrs. Mary Randolph and Mrs. Annie Southers of Harrisonburg. (Harrisonburg Daily News Record, Thurs., April 8, 1926)
