Born in Sonderkongslev, Yyland, Denmark, the son of Gunnie and Petrina Jensen. He was baptized in the Lutheran Chuch. At the age of 18, he became a seaman for 3 years. In 1899, when 21 years old, he immigrated to American, took out citizenship papers and settled in Cherry County, NE. He was employed as a ranch hand on the 101 Ranch by his sister and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Peterson. He took up a homestead in the hills south of Merriman in 1899. He married Marie Mathilda Svarfvar at Valentine, NE on Oct. 23, 1908. Children - Son (8/26/1912-9/9/1912), Harold E. (b. 11/24/1913), Carl A. (12/8/1915-9/13/1969), Hans R. (b. 8/22/1919), and Alice I. (Mrs. Harold Rucker, b. 9/17/1928).
