Charles B. Benys, age 74, passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2013.

Charles was born on July 18, 1938 to Laddie and Marcella Benys. He graduated from Corpus Christi College Academy in 1956. Charles served in the United States Marine Corp. in 1958 to 1960. Charles retired in 1996, after 29 years of service in the Corpus Christi Fire Department. He was also self-employed as a farmer throughout his life. When asked what he did for a living, his reply was "I save lives and property, and provide food for the world". Charles played football for Corpus Christi College Academy, The University of Houston, and for The United States Marine Corps.

He will always be remembered for his love of football, his outgoing nature, wonderful sense of humor, love for his family and friends, and his unconditional generosity. Charles was a loving Father, Grandfather, Son, Brother, Uncle and Cousin. He enriched the lives of all that knew him and he will be greatly missed.

Charles B. Benys is preceded in death by his parents, Laddie and Marcella Benys. Charles B. Benys is survived by the love of his life, Erika Smart. Son, Charles L. Benys and wife Jillian H. Benys, grandchildren Ryan and Haley. Son Lee B. Benys. Also survived by his Sisters, Virginia Benys and Rose Marie Risinger with her husband Dr. H.L. Risinger, nephews Dr. Brad Risinger, Dr. Brian Risinger, and niece Lee Ann Risinger.

A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 17, 2013 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at St. Philip, The Apostle Catholic Church.
