Died Oct. 24 at a local care center at the age of 84.
Funeral service for Gresham resident and prominent Portland Auctioneer,
Dick I. Boyd will be held on Tuesday, October 30, 2001 at 11:00 AM at COLUMBIA VIEW WESLEYAN CHURCH, 16700 NE Halsey. Committal service will follow at Lincoln Memorial Park. GRESHAM FUNERAL CHAPEL IN CARE OF ARRANGEMENTS. Friends may view Sunday 1 to 4 PM and Monday 3 to 7 PM at the funeral home.
Dick I. Boyd was born Oct. 21, 1917 in Pulaski, PA, the son of Bowin & Phyllis Boyd. As a child, Dick was raised and graduated from High school in Pulaski. As A young man, Dick worked in the coal mines & steel mils. As time passed, he
married his childhood sweetheart, Leola Allen on April 12, 1939, in Kittaning, PA.
After their marriage, they came to Portland in 1943. Dick worked for the Railroad; and after WWII began he worked in the shipyards. Dick enlisted in the Army and served his country with the rank of Pvt. 1st Class, and was stationed in Italy. After his Honorable Discharge, he returned home
to Portland, and went to mechanics school. He then owned & operated a gas station for a short time.
In 1948, Dick began his new careers an auctioneer, opening "Killingsworth Auction Co." and later in 1991 he opened Killingsworth Antiques", operating till 1995. During his many years as an auctioneer, the traveled to Arizona & California with their shows. Dick and Leola came to Gresham in 1988.
As hobbies, Dick enjoyed fishing, hunting, and going to Rodeos. He was a 20 year member of the Columbia View Wesleyan Church and the B.Y.F. Seniors Group through the church. He also was a member of the Good Sam R.V Club.
Dick is survived by his wife: Leola of Gresham; SON: William E. Boyd of Portland, Oregon; BROTHERS: Herbert
Boyd of Meadville, PA, Ralph Boyd of Enterprise, OR, Robert Boyd of Denver,CO, and Edward Boyd of Newcastle, PA. 3 Grandchildren, 7 Great Grandchildren.
