MUNCIE--Leon L. Carmin, 83, passed away Tuesday afternoon at the Waters of Muncie Health Care Center following an extended illness. He was born in Muncie, the son of Leon L. and Mabel (Hollins) Carmin, Sr.

Leon is a graduate of Muncie Central High School and married the love of his life, Rosabell Frankie (DeLora) Carmin. She preceded him in death in 1996. Mr. Carmin is a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during World War II. He became a rural route carrier for the U.S. Postal Service and served them for 20 years prior to his retirement. He also had worked nearly 20 years at Marhoefer Packing Co. Leon was a member of the United Postal Workers Union, enjoyed following NASCAR and especially going to Bristol, TN, which he had done for several years.

He is survived by one son, Terry; two daughters, Zandra and Patti; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one brother, Tommy Carmin; two sisters, Juanita Lyons and Phyllis Sissom; and several nieces and nephews.

Leon was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and granddaughter, Kelly Bush.

Private viewing services for family members will be held on Friday at Parson Mortuary. Military rites will be conducted by the Veterans of Delaware County Honor Guard.
