Martin was born December 18 1944 to Dorothy Nunley Anderson and the late Martin Anderson and had lived in the Joplin area most of his life. He graduated from Joplin High School in 1962 and had worked as a machinist and welder at American Fixtures, B&D Welding, Cardinal Scales, Hudson Foods and Ozark Engineering. Martin had been disabled since 1989. He enjoyed designing and making fishing lures, playing games on the computer and spending time with his grandsons.
Martin married Thelma Hood on July 2, 1966 in Joplin. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include his daughter. Sarah Hill and husband David and their children, Carter and Gavin Hill all of Seneca, his mother, Dorothy Anderson of Joplin, his sister, Carolyn Stereff and husband Paul of Pasadena, Texas and many nieces and nephews.
Services for Martin will be 3p.m. Sunday at Parker Mortuary with Rex Wakefield and Rev. Tim Sumners officiating. Burial will follow in the Diamond Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2pm.until service time. Sunday at the mortuary and requests that memorial contributions be made to the Fellowship Baptist Church building fund or Gideons International in care of the mortuary.
