Herbert Wayne, son of Jesse and Mary Christine (Court) Cavanaugh was born on December 10, 1945 in Devils Lake. He was raised in the St. Michael area and attended school at Fort Totten and Wahpeton. After completing his education he worked as a farm laborer for several area farmers. He also put his amazing talent as a self taught auto mechanic to use where ever he worked. He also had a side business of fixing cars-especially the cars he owned that seem to need constant repair. Working on cars was a passion for Herbie. He also enjoyed watching movies, going for drives in the country and doing some "mudding" whenever he got the chance. When out for a drive, Herbie loved to stop in to visit family and friends. He may have had a gruff exterior, but Herbie always took good care of his pets and had a soft spot for his children, grandchildren, brothers and sisters and nieces and nephews. He loved them all very much.

Herbie is survived by his children, Paul (Jenni) Cavanaugh, Rachel Cavanaugh both of St. Michael, Angeline Feather, Moorhead, MN and Marcus Curley also St. Michael; grandchildren, Harley Cavanaugh, Ruger Cavanaugh, Rusty Perry, Tesla Goggles and Ezra Goggles; Faith Huus-Peterson, Hope Huus-Peterson, Julia Chase, Hunter Murphy, Chance Edwards and Lance Chase; Schanina Feather, John Greywind, Kelsey Greywind and Justin Greywind; Miley Curley; great grandchildren, Princessa, Ares and Sayah Feather; brothers and sisters, Frances (Terry) Halsey, Carol Cavanaugh, Darlene Cavanaugh, Georgeline BlackHawk, Delta Nelson, Roger Cavanaugh, Jesse (Sherry) Cavanaugh Jr. and adopted sister, Eileen Railing; aunt, Katherine Howard and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
