Ryan Keith Bloomquist, son of Anthon W. and Ruth V. (Beckner) Bloomquist, was born September 7, 1931, at Wausa, Nebraska.
Ryan died Friday, June 7, 2013, at his home in Bloomfield, Nebraska.

Ryan grew up in Wausa, where he attended Wausa Public Schools, and graduated in 1949. After receiving his high school education, Ryan served in the United States Army during the Korean War era, from 1951 until 1953. After receiving his Honorable Discharge, he then attended and graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. On August 4, 1956, Ryan was married to Dorothy Malcom at Ponca, Nebraska. The couple was blessed with four children: Julie, Neal, Sara, and Darin. On October 18, 1975, Ryan married Janice (Cornish) Colvin.

Ryan moved to Bloomfield, Nebraska after college, and made his home there the rest of his life. Ryan was a banker with Farmers & Merchants State Bank for 39 years before his retirement. He was very active in many civic projects around the Bloomfield Community, and was a member of the American Legion, the Bloomfield City Council, and served on the Bloomfield School Board. Ryan was a member of Christ Memorial United Methodist Church in Bloomfield, and also a longtime member of the Rolling Hills Golf Course. He was an avid Husker Football Fan and proud supporter of the Bloomfield Public Schools.

Ryan is survived by: wife, Janice Bloomquist; children, Julie (Roger) Lambert, Neal (Kris) Bloomquist, Sara (Mikel) Harman, Darin (Tricia) Bloomquist, Sam (Barb) Colvin, and Paula (Mark) Keehr; grandchildren, Andrew Lambert, Steven Lambert, Karen Bloomquist, Thomas Bloomquist, Amy (Josh) Brandt, Natalie (Damon) Gerhardt, Kurt (Lauren) Harman, Peter Harman, Paul Jaixen, Seth Bloomquist, Levi Bloomquist, John Bloomquist, Stephanie (Chad) Miller, and Tyler Colvin; great-grandchildren, Alexis Gerhardt and Charlotte Miller; and brother, Bruce (Marian) Bloomquist and their family.

Ryan was preceded in death by: first wife, Dorothy (Malcom) Bloomquist and parents, Anthon and Ruth Bloomquist.

Burial was in the Bloomfield City Cemetery. Military Honors will be conducted by VFW Post 4996 and American Legion Post 249, both of Bloomfield.
