Elmer was born Dec. 8, 1941, in Cross Plains to Uriah Francis "Frank" and Jessie Mae (Woody) Casey. He married Mary (Hail) Catlett on Jan. 2, 1981, in Pecos. Elmer served in the U.S. Navy for six years. He retired from Union Pacific Railroad in 2003. His hobbies included fishing, gardening, camping and carpentry.
Elmer had two sons and a daughter with his first wife, Shirley Ann. Jack Casey, Joe Casey, and Julie Casey Buchanan. He and Mary had one son, Michael Casey.
Elmer is survived by his wife, Mary Casey, of Weatherford; three sons, Jack Casey and wife, Terrill, of De Leon, Joey Casey and wife, Diane, of Gorman, and Michael Casey and Sabrina, of Weatherford; two step-daughters, Debbie Bland and husband, Richard, of Sulphur, Okla., and Sherrie Crump and husband, James, of Bethany, Okla.; brothers, James "Shorty" Casey, of Amarillo, Jesse "Buddy" Casey, of Idaho, and Thomas Casey, of Cisco; sister, Sally Whiteley of Cross Plains; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Elmer was preceded in death by his parents; and daughter, Julie Ann Casey Buchanan.
