Sittie's obituary, which identifies her only as Mrs. John Whitt, ran in the 24 Jun 1944 Asheville Times. It includes: "Mrs. Whitt is survived by the husband, three daughters, Mrs. Milda Shirien of Swannanoa, Miss Catherine Whitt and Miss Johnnie Whitt of Stocksville; three sons, Donald, Sephos and Rubin Whitt, all of Stocksville; three step-children, Kelly Whitt of Cander, Mrs. Dessie Whitt of Baltimore, and Mrs. Alma Walker of Springdale; 17 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; five sisters, and two brothers."
