Helen Marie Sampson, age 86, passed away Sunday, March 10, 2013 at Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd, New Rockford, ND, following a courageous 16 year battle with cancer.

Helen was born December 11, 1926, to John and Clara (Hentges) Williams at home near Brantford, ND, located in Eddy County. She was delivered by her father.She attended county school near Brantford, and was the youngest daughter born of eight children, and six half-brothers and half- sisters. Helen helped with the barn dances her parents had at their farm.

Helen was united in marriage to Stanley Sampson on October 6, 1951 at the home of Rev. Henry Jeske at Buchanan, ND. They lived on the family farm in Pleasant Prairie Township near Brantford where they operated/managed a dairy business while raising their two daughters. The family farm was her pride and joy where she found much peace and solitude. Her hobbies were the family farm, where she was an avid gardener. She also did embroidery, loved visiting and providing lunch for family and friends. After Stanley's death on June 20, 1993, she continued to manage the family farm while residing in an apartment in New Rockford.

She was a member of the Brantford Congregational Church where she taught Bible School. After that church closed, she became a member of the Evangelical Free Church in New Rockford, where she helped out in various church duties. She loved bible study and her fellow church members were dear to her heart. Due to health reasons Helen became a resident of Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd on May 9, 2011.

Helen is survived by her two daughters, Kathy (Kasper) Vetter, Carrington, ND, Jane Sampson (James Nixen), Devils Lake, ND; one granddaughter, Nicole (James) Schweigert, Atlantic, IA; three great-grandchildren, Haley, Paxton, Corbin Schweigert; one sister, Hazel Gade, Canoga Park, CA; sisters-in-law, Roberta Williams, New Rockford; Donna McArthur, FL, Birdella Beach, Jamestown, ND, Elaine Sampson, Bismarck, ND; brothers-in-law, Russell Sampson, TX, and Gordon (Eileen) Sampson, Enid, OK, and Lyle (Marty) Sampson, Dodge City, ND; and many nieces and nephews.



She is preceded in death by her husband Stanley; her parents; five brothers, Maurice, Key, Jim, Leo, Warren; two sisters, Gladys and Leone; and three half-brothers and three half-sisters, Hank, Johnny, Bert, Edith, Alice, and Margaret.
