Rev. Sylvester V. Miller, 71, died Friday, Dec. 27, 1985, at the McKay-Dee Hospital Center of a heart attack. He was born Jan. 9, 1914, in Darden, Texas, a son of Richard and Maude Hunter Miller. On Nov. 9, 1935, he married Bessie Cranfords in Texarkana, Ark. She died March 1, 1940. On Nov. 10, 1940, He married Lizzie Richardson in Texarkana, Ark.

He was pastor of Emmanuel Church of God in Christ in Ogden Utah. He had served as assistant pastor to the presiding bishop of the Utah Jurisdiction Churches of God In Christ, State Sunday School Superintendent, and chairman of the Elders Council.

He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Firemen and Oilers, and had retired from the Union Pacific and Rio Grande Railroads.

He was reared and educated in Darden, Texas, and had lived in Texarkana, Texas prior to moving to Ogden, Utah about forty years ago.

Surviving are his widow of Ogden, four sons and one daughter, Rev. John L. Miller, Robert Miller, Willy Miller, David Miller, all of Ogden; Mrs. Robert (Letha) B. Taylor, Ogden; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are there brothers, Earl Lee Miller, Clinton Miller, both of Houston Texas; Herman Miller, Cincinnati, Ohio. He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

Funeral services were held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Myers Mortuary in Ogden with Bishop Nathanial Jones officiating.
Friends may call at the mortuary on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
