Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Frye Chapel & Mortuary in Brawley for Schondalawn Dinitra "Schon" Shaw, 37, of Brawley, who died Nov. 9 in Brawley.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Frye Chapel & Mortuary. The Rev. Duane Dees of New Mount Olive Baptist Church in Brawley will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery in Brawley.
Ms. Shaw was born Dec. 18, 1966, in Smithfield, N.C., to Thomas Brown and Linda Shaw.
She lived with her great-grandmother, "Mama Nana" Wilson Shaw, until she was 17. In 1984, she moved to Brawley to be with her father and graduated from Brawley Union High School in 1985.
Ms. Shaw attended Imperial Valley College, where she earned her associate's degree in accounting.
She married Rodney Arterberry in 1990. She worked for Pizza Hut, was an admitting clerk at Pioneers Memorial Hospital in Brawley and was a project analyst at Cal-Energy, where she was on numerous committees.
She was the cheer coordinator for Pop Warner and was involved with the Brawley Police Activities League.
She attended Kingdom Hall in Brawley for a number of years.
Survivors include her three children, Jamison, Mariah and Chloe Arterberry of Brawley; her father, Thomas Brown, and his wife, Joann; her mother, Linda Shaw Evans and her husband, Osmar Evans of Durham, N.C.; brother, Charles Evans of Durham; sisters, Thomasina and Ulricia Brown of Smithfield and Jessica and Samantha Brown of Brawley and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous relatives and friends.
