Ronald S. Arterberry entered this world as an early birthday present to his (late) mother, Jessie Mae on September 13, 1959 at Pioneers Memorial Hospital in Brawley. God sent his angels for Ronald on February 22, 2008 in Long Beach, CA where he had been hospitalized for several months battling pneumonia.
As a Brawley resident for almost thiry years, Ronald attended Miguel Hidalgo and Soroptomist Schools. He was very active in Special Olympics and he was a familiar face to many merchants and citizens of the Brawley community that he always referred to as "home".
In 2002, Ronald realized a life long dream of moving into his own apartment (with supported living staff) in Long Beach where he resided until his recent hospitalization. Besides his greatest passion of meeting and talking to people, he also enjoyed music, sports, movies, attending church and being involved in the various work/training programs that he attended in El Centro, San Bernardino and Long Beach.
Ronald was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ennis and Naomi; mother, Jessie Mae; brother and sister-in-law, Rodney and Shawn.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories his father and step-mother, Bobbie Sr. and Doreatha; brothers, Bobbie Jr., Jerry and Gregory and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Ronald loved his Lord and he will be greatly missed by all of the above and more.
A Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will be held Monday, March 3 at 10 a.m. at Frye Chapel and Mortuary in Brawley.
