Son of Archibald and Laura M. Smith Tompkins, he was widowed, a retired railroad carman for Union Pacific RR, lived at 1205 S. 6th, Kelso, died in Americana Nursing Home of Hodgkins Disease, ASHD with CHF, per death certificate 10225, whose informant was Dale C. Tompkins, 1214 S 3rd, Kelso, WA. Buried May 6 1970.

Leslie Clifford Tompkins, 88, of 1205 S. 6th Ave, Kelso, died May 3 in a local nursing home. He was born Sept. 8, 1881 in Ashland, NY.

He was a retired Railroad Carman of the U. P. Railroad, and a member of the Carman's Union. He came to Kelso in 1950 from Nebraska.

Surviving are two sons, Dale C. Tompkins Sr. of Kelso, and Leon E. Tompkins of Eugene, OR; a daughter, Mrs. Hazel L. Kruse of Kelso; 11 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 pm Wednesday at Ditlevsen-Moore Chapel with Rev. James Johnson officiating. Interment will be in Longview Memorial Park.
