While he had been ailing the past few years, the sudden passing of his son Charles on Sept. 18 last, is believed to have hastened the death at 11.30 p.m. Thursday of Jonas Benner of 831 Chew St. In his 83rd year at the time of his death, Mr. Benner had been bedfast for only two days. His son Charles died of a heart attack when he was about to start work at the General Ribbon Mills, Catasauqua, ten days ago. A native of Lehigh county, Mr. Benner was the son of Samuel and Hannah Benner, and up to the time of his retirement, had been employed at the now defunct Lehigh Carwheel and Axle Co., of Fullerton. Later he worked for the Reber-Korn Co., this city. He was a member of the Chestnut Hill church and of the local P.O.S. of A. chapter. The last of his family, the only survivors are three children, Robert of Philadelphia and Victor of Allentown, and Mrs. Charles Korn, this city. His wife, nee Sarah Faust, died 35 years ago. Tentative funeral arrangements call for the service to be held at the J. S. Burkholder Funeral home, 1601 Hamilton St., on Monday at 1.30 p.m., with burial in the Chestnut Hill cemetery.
