Holman Gibson 1904-1977

CLINTON – J. (John) Holman Gibson, 73, died late Monday night at a local hospital shortly after arrival by ambulance.

He was born in Clinton June 2, 1904, the son of Leon and Nina Libby Gibson. All his life he farmed and did sand, gravel and loam hauling in the Clinton area. For many years he operated the Gibson & Son Dairy and milk route.

In 1926 he was married to Freda Dixon. Last Dec. 30 they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

Survivors, in addition to his widow, are a son, Wendell Gibson of Clinton, a daughter, Mrs. Donald (Lois) Starbird of Clinton, four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Redington Funeral Home, 2 Pleasant St., Clinton, with the Rev. Robert Webster, pastor of Brown Memorial Methodist Church officiating. Friends may call Wednesday from 3 to 5 and from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Green Lawn Rest Cemetery.
