Odbert Raymond "O.R." Adams, 87 of Eakly, OK left his earthly body and those he loved on earth, to abide with his heavenly father on May 27th, 2013. Until recently he lived his life with an amazing and purposeful zeal, that he had for every person that he met. O.R. was born August 1st, 1925 to Odbert and Lura (Kelly) Adams. He attended Elm Grove Country School until the seventh grade and then finished and graduated from Eakly School in 1944. O.R.'s life began as a farm boy who had to plow with a team of horses and milk cows for the milk truck which came by every morning before daybreak. He grew up knowing hard work, because his father was a disabled veteran. O.R. participated in the church community where he served on various committee's of the administrative board for over forty years. He served on the Eakly School Board for twenty years and he received soil conservation awards for his work on the land. O.R. was drafted into the United States Army on January 29, 1951 where he served in the 343 Chemical Depot Company where they stored seran gas. O.R. was honorably discharged in January of 1953 and returned to Eakly to the farm that he had bought in 1947. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Lee Scott on March 19, 1951 at the Methodist Church in Eakly. O.R. was a farmer/rancher his entire life. He accepted Christ at the age of ten and was baptized in a pond north of Eakly by Jim Sharry. O.R. enjoyed the time spent together with his family. His family and church family were the joy of his life. The life given us by nature is short; but the memory of a well spent Christian life is eternal.
