Joseph BROESCHE

Joseph Hoffman BROESCHE, 78, of Shady Oaks Lodge No. 2, a retired West Texas Utilities employee who formerly lived at 710 Vine St., died at 11:38 a.m. Monday. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Central Presbyterian Church.

Dr. Roy ZUEFELDT, minister, will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Tim TEMPLE of Abilene Bible Central Presbyterian Church. Burial will be at Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange St.

Born March 15, 1906, in Burton, he was reared there and graduated from Brenham High School in 1924. He was a 1928 graduate of Texas A & M University, receiving a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.

He married Erna UECKERT Nov. 10, 1928, in Navasota, and they moved to Abilene in 1928, where he worked for West Texas Utilities. While working for WTU, he also lived in Quanah and McCamey, returning to Abilene in 1940. He was a transmission engineer when he retired from WTU on April 1, 1971, after 43 years with the company.

He was a member of First Christian Central Presbyterian Church, where he was an elder and a deacon. He also had served as scoutmaster for the First Central Presbyterian Scout Troop.

He wife and a granddaughter, Susan, both died on June 29, 1972.

Survivors include two sons, Gerald of Lake Jackson and Edwin of 2325 Elmwood Dr.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Robert JONES, Ralph SCHWARTZ, Donovin SMITH, Jerry ARMSTRONG, Jack SPEEGLE and Tommy WALDEN.

The family will be at 2325 Elmwood Drive.

The family requests remembrances be made to Young Life, P.O. Box 3477, Abilene, 79604, or a favorite charity.
