Donald Lee Gavin was born on Sept. 19, 1930 in Columbus, Ohio, the youngest of 9 children born to John William Gavin Sr. and to Elizabeth Jane (Bessie) Mason. He grew up on 236 Southwood Ave, Columbus, Ohio. He was raised Catholic in St. Leo's parrish.On June 11, 1951, he enlisted in the Army and served as a corporal in the Korean War. He was released from the Army on June 10, 1953. On April 25, 1952, he married Ruth Marie Williams and they had two children, Jenny Marie and Robert (Bobby) Lee Gavin. They were later divorced.He married Norma J. Holland about 1967 and they divorced on April 7, 1970 (3 years married). He married Barbara J. DeLong on Sept 3, 1970 and they divorced on Feb. 20, 1974 (3 years married).He then remarried Ruth Marie Williams on Nov. 1, 1978. He worked as a bartender and as a manager and later owner of his father's Gavin's Grill family type bar business. He loved to drink and smoke. He owned a boat and a cabin on the Muskingum River in Zanesville and would take his nieces and nephew (White family) for water skiing lessons. He had an infectious laugh and an ornery sense of humor. He loved trying to dunk you once you were up on skis. He died on Dec. 15, 1978.

cause of death-acute myocardial infarction (heart attack) due to arteriosclerotic heart disease (8 years)with angina and s/p myocardial infarction of the heart in the past and medical code 4109 (acute myocardial infarction).
