Amos/Ames C. Richardson mustered in service November 5, 1863 at Fort Scott in 14th Kansas Cavalry, company K. He was age 26, a married farmer, born in Cass county, Illinois. He had grey eyes, fair hair and a height of 6'. His residence was Rockport, Atchison county, Kansas, His rank was reduced to private on January 20, 1864. He died at the hospital at Fort Scott on August 19, 1864. He was found on 1850 census in Cass county, Illinois, as Amos C. Richardson, age 12; with many other Richardsons, including a Jesse C. Richardson (1794-1866), who died at Rockport, Atchison county, Kansas. Amos Richardson married March 31, 1859 in Cass county, Illinois to Mary Ann Dofener.
